Local business owner takes his own life
TRADERS at Lusaka’s Chifundo Market at Mandevu Junction were today woken up to the sad reality of losing a colleague who was found hanging lifeless from the shop ceiling structure.
In a heartbreaking incident that has sent shockwaves through the community, 30-year-old Robert Musha, a local business owner, was discovered dead in his shop today, having taken his own life.
Musha, known for his furniture shop in the Chifundo Market near the Junction roundabout, was a familiar face in the area, where he had been running his business for several years.
According to reports received by the Mandevu Police Station, the discovery was made today by a close friend and fellow marketeer who had access to the shop.
Between 9:00 and 10:00 hours, the friend entered the shop to find Musha hanging by a nylon rope from the shop’s ceiling structure.
Police deputy spokesperson Danny Mwale confirmed the incident to Kalemba
Mwale said authorities were immediately alerted, and the police arrived at the scene.
Upon their arrival, the officers found Musha’s lifeless body hanging from the support beam, with a tragic sign of him biting his tongue.
“The rope was carefully cut, and an initial examination revealed no signs of physical injuries on the deceased’s body,” Mwale said.
Though it is not clear of what drove Musha to end his life, the police have promptly initiated investigations into the incident, and the body was later transported to the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) mortuary for a post-mortem examination.
